Since 1972, the primary focus of Castleman Eye Center has been to research and provide the newest, safest, most technologically advanced procedures available to our patients. We have our own dedicated state of the art LASIK Operating Suite in our Troy location. This enables us to personally oversee the maintenance and safety of the lasers used during your LASIK procedure. It is important to maintain temperature and humidity at all times for the laser to function properly. Rest assured we are constantly monitoring these room specifications. There are other LASIK centers that transport their lasers from office to office on a daily basis. This makes it difficult to monitor. Owning our LASIK suite also allows us to keep facility costs down and, therefore, offer very competitive pricing to our patients.
The VISX S4 Laser includes an eye tracking feature which monitors eye movements and keeps the laser beam on target during surgery. If a patient’s eye moves during the procedure, the laser moves perfectly with the eye or shuts down if the movement is extreme. Studies have shown that the eye tracking component produces better visual outcomes and lowers LASIK complications compared with lasers that do not use eye-tracking systems. The VISX S4 IR laser works together with Wavescan technology to provide a personalized laser vision correction plan.
We offer ALL LASER LASIK. This procedure combines VISX S4 technology along with Intralase™ FS Technology. The LASIK flap is created with a LASER, not a blade, using Intralase™ technology. Eliminating the blade, gives you a safer, more precise LASIK treatment.
In fact, all branches of the U.S. Military only recommend All Laser LASIK to their servicemen and women. New NASA guidelines specify that only All Laser LASIK may be performed on its astronauts using precise measurement and wavefront guided lasers. Judging by the numbers, the IntraLase™ Method, has become an integral part of today's advanced LASIK procedure. With well over 1 million procedures completed to date, IntraLase™ FS Technology is the clear choice for the surgeons at Castleman Eye Center located in Troy and Southgate.
Safety, sterilization and infection control is of utmost importance to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and safety standards to ensure you are protected at all times. Safety checks in our on-site LASIK suite in our Troy location include triple-checking of eye measurements and calibrating equipment before each procedure. Our state-of-the-art equipment is designed for maximum safety and includes the VISX S4, Eye Tracker laser.. This technology provides an exceptional level of accuracy in correcting your vision. In addition, our support staff are all certified VISX Laser technicians.
