Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the clear tissue that overlies the white (sclera) of the eye. It may be contagious, depending on the cause.
It may be caused by a virus (often known as “pink eye”), bacteria, allergens or irritants.
Treatment may consist of lid scrubs, antibiotic/steroid/allergy medications, lubricants and repeated had washing. Eye makeup and contact lens should be discontinued during this period.
