Michelle E. Akler, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who understands the important role that vision plays in the lives of her patients.
"Whether I'm examining an eight year old who can't see the blackboard at school, performing LASIK on a bride-to-be so she won't need to wear glasses at her wedding, or treating an elderly patient struggling with the effects of glaucoma, I recognize that each patient's eye care needs and vision concerns are as unique as they are," says Dr. Akler. Dr. Akler provides full ophthalmology care and is trained in the most advanced LASIK techniques, including CustomVue and Iris Registration. Dr. Akler grew up in Toronto, Canada and attended the University of Toronto Medical School. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado. She is married to Dr. Jonathon State who is a family practice physician. They are the proud parents of two young sons, Joshua and Adam. Her hobbies include exercising, downhill skiing, and watching her sons play hockey.
